South Africa police officers arresting Muslims for secretly praying at a gathering in defiance of the Coronavirus lockdown

A video chanced upon Celebritiesbuzz.com.gh from South Africa shows police officers issuing the arrest of some Muslim folks.

The video which was shared Chief Erican on Twitter shows Muslims who have gathered to have their usual prayers.

According to the lockdown orders in South Africa, there is suppose to be no social gathering or whatsoever and all religious activities have been banned.

South Africa is leading the chart with the highest number of Coronavirus infections and tests carried out on the continent and it has imposed a nationwide lockdown.

In the video, the police were given a tipoff based on intelligence which led to the arrest of these Muslims who had gathered in a secluded place to offer prayers to Allah.

As Muslim prayers have it, it is always congregational which defies the social distancing order thus the police found it prudent and lawful to arrest them respective of their religious commitments.

The coronavirus case count in South Africa is 4,220 with 79 deaths and 1473 recoveries.

Their arrest had Joshua Malema, a political activist say it is necessary.
