Chief of Staff to Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Muhammad Abdullahi stated that 73 percent of women in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State sided with the fact that there is nothing wrong for a man to beat a woman.
Abdullahi who spoke at the launch of the official launch of the 2021 State of the World Population Report the United Nations Population Fund, in collaboration with the Planning and Budget Commission (PBC) in Kaduna said the findings were focused on the current General Households Survey conducted the state Bureau of Statistics, and currently being validated relevant stakeholders.
The outcome of the survey showed that over 30 percent of girls in Kubau and Kudan LGAs were married off before they clocked 15 years while 38 percent of girls in Soba LG married before the age of 15.
“Therefore, for us in Kaduna State the 2021 State of the World Population Report is timely and will help us look deeply into these disturbing statistics.
“The relevant ministries, departments and agencies, particularly the Ministry of Health, Human Services and Social Development and PBC will study the report closely and provide a clear implementation plan for some of the recommendations.”
Meanwhile, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has called for an all hands on deck approach to tackle with insecurity in the country.
According to him, the fight against insecurity requires the cooperation of all states and for security managers and intelligence agencies to share information. He made the disclosure at the 2021 second quarter meeting of Directors of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in North-West states.
