The founder, chief executive officer, chairman and president of Amazon, Jeff Bezos will vacate his position as the company’s CEO come July 5.
Jeff Bezos himself made this announcement after an intensive meeting with the board of directors of the company earlier in the day.
His decision comes after revealing through an announcement earlier this year that he will step down as the chief executive officer of the company at the end of the year.
Jeff’s vacating the position as CEO will move straight to be the Chairman of the board of directors of the company.
The chief executive officer position will now be occupied the cloud-computing boss at the company, Andy
Jeff Bezos in his announcement on husband resignation as the chief executive officer started he choose July 5th as the day he will step down from his position because it’s a very important and memorable day in the company’ history.
He said it will be exactly 27 years since the company started operating as the biggest online shop in the world in 1994.
“We chose that date because it’s sentimental for me, the day Amazon was incorporated in 1994, exactly 27 years ago”, Bezos said Wednesday at Amazon’s annual shareholder meeting, which was held virtually.
The company has been able to keep its policies and succession plans quite but there were speculations that either Jassy or Jeff Wilke, who retired from his post as head of Amazon’s worldwide consumer business last August, would be Bezos’ eventual successor.
Jeff Bezos will now have ample time to concentrate on his other projects like the Washington Post,Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company and the Amazon Day 1 Fund.
